# Configuring Replicate Results

Result Replicates allow users to easily enter results that require repetition such as for impurity testing or multi stage testing. To enable this feature for use:

1. <a href="/en/gr/1269/#inactive">Activate</a> the *All Results in Test* value in the *LIMS Target Result Scope* picklist
2. Optional: Perform the following page <a href="/en/gr/26387/">layout</a> updates:
    1. Add the *Number of Replicates* and *Allow Ad Hoc Replicates* fields to the *Lab Test Definition Result Details* page layout
    2. Add the *Number of Replicates* field to the *Test Definition Variation Result Details* page layout
    3. Add the following fields to the *Lab Test Result Details* page layout
        1. *Replicate Number*: Identifier for each replicate in a Test
        2. *Is Ad Hoc Result?*: Distinguishes an ad hoc Replicate from a preconfigured Replicate
        3. *Result Scopes*: Captures all scopes, including *All Results in Test,* that a *Result's* variables use
        4. *Result Label:* The user defined name of a Result Replicate
        5. *Invalidation Reason:* Captures whether a Result Replicate was invalidated or cancelled

## Permissions Required

Users must have the following permissions in order to create or modify Result Replicates:

READ access to the following objects:
* *Test Definition Result*
* *Test Definition Variation Result*
* *Spec Data Criteria*
* *Spec Data Criteria Set*
* *Criteria Evaluation Set*
* *Test Definition Criteria*
* *Lab Test*
* *Test Step*
* *Test Result*

Users must have the following permissions in order to cancel Ad Hoc Result Replicates:

READ access to the following objects:
* *Test Result*
* *Lab Test*
* *Criteria Evaluation*
