# Using Ad Hoc Criteria

If configured, users with the proper permissions can create *Ad Hoc Criteria* using a dedicated application section on applicable *Spec Execution* records, allowing them to create custom  specification criteria that is not associated with any design data as needed for one-off test requests.

## Creating Ad Hoc Criteria

To create *Ad Hoc Criteria*:

1. Navigate to the *Ad Hoc Criteria* section of the relevant *Spec Execution* record.
2. Click **Edit**.
3. In the resulting dialog, select a **Test**.
4. Select a **Result**.
5. Click **+ Create**. This opens the *Ad Hoc Criteria* creation dialog.
6. Enter a **Rule**.
7. Select an **Indication**.
8. Select one or more **Purposes**.
9. Enter a **Criteria Description**.
10. Select a **Rounding Rule** and **Precision**.
11. Click **Save**.

After creating an *Ad Hoc Criteria*, you can edit or delete it from the *Spec Data*'s *Ad Hoc Criteria* section as long as the *Lab Test* to which it applies has not been started. 

**Note**: You can only add Ad Hoc Criteria to *Spec Executions* of the *Batch Release* or *Non-Routine* object type.
