If configured, users with the proper permissions can create Ad Hoc Criteria using a dedicated application section on applicable Spec Execution records, allowing them to create custom specification criteria that is not associated with any design data as needed for one-off test requests.
In order to configure Ad Hoc Criteria for use:
- Add the Ad Hoc Criteria application section to the page layout for the below Spec Execution object types:
- Batch Release Spec Execution (
batch_release__v) - Non Routine Spec Execution (
non_routine__v)
- Batch Release Spec Execution (

Optional: If this Criteria is intended for use with a Certificate of Analysis (CoA), update the CoA Template accordingly. Create a custom formula field named Evaluated Criteria Description with the following formula expression:
If(Not(IsBlank(criteria__v)), criteria__v, lims_criteria_description__v)This field populates the Criteria Description from the Ad Hoc Criteria Description field when it is populated; otherwise, it uses the existing Spec Data Criteria Description field. Use this custom field as the Criteria Description in the CoA template.
Note: Ad Hoc Criteria is currently not supported for Spec Execution object types other than Batch Release and Non-Routine.
Permissions
In order to use the Ad Hoc Criteria feature, users must have CREATE and DELETE permissions to the Criteria Evaluation object.
