Configuring Reduced Testing

Reduced Testing allows QC Managers to apply a reduced set of tests and criteria or skip testing entirely on batches of material from a supplier to allow for quick rejection or approval.

Considerations

Before implementing and configuring reduced testing, consider the following limitations, design-time validations, and architectural constraints:

  • There are 10 standard Test Plan levels including Full, Reduced, and 8 intermediary test plans. You cannot add, delete, or reorder these values.
  • If a Spec Execution’s Test Plan is not defined on its Spec Data, then the Test Plan is overridden to Full.

Configuration Steps

To configure Reduced Testing in your Vault, perform the following steps:

  1. In the Reduced Testing picklist, set the reduced__v and spec_data_test_plan__v picklist values to Active. Optionally, you can relabel them as needed.
  2. Optional: If you are not using the Spec Data Builder, make the following additional changes:
    1. For the Spec Data (lims_spec_data__v) Batch Release Spec Data type, add the spec_data_test_plan__v multi-value picklist field to the layout. This allows design users to specify to which plans the criteria apply.
    2. For the Spec Data Sample Action (lims_spec_data_sample_action__v) Spec Data Test Sample type, add the spec_data_test_plan__v multi-value picklist field to the layout. This allows design users to specify to which plans the sample applies.
  3. Configure the Qualifications (qms_org_qualification__v)object:
    1. Mark the material__v field as not required for the Material Qualification object type.
    2. Add the quality_material__v field to the page layout for the Material Qualification object type.
    3. Add a Supplier Material Testing Levels custom section to the Material Qualification page layout.
    4. Make all Qualification object types aside from Material Qualification inactive.
    5. Add tabs and lists as needed for your users. For example, you may:
      1. Add a Supplier Qualification tab.
      2. Add a Supplier Qualification related object list on the Material object page layout.
      3. Add a Supplier Qualification related object list on the Supplier object page layout.
  4. Make the following changes to the Spec Execution (lims_spec_execution__v) object:
    1. Add the spec_data_test_plan__v field (read-only) and the ignore_in_reduced_testing_counters__v field (editable) to the Spec Execution object page layout. Optionally, limit those fields to only the appropriate object types (for example, Batch Release).
    2. Add the aliquot_count__v field to the Spec Execution Sample Action (lims_spec_execution_sample_action__v) Aliquot Sample Action type layout to display the calculated number of aliquots for the Spec Execution.
  5. Optional: Configure a custom Test Plan field on batch__v to predetermine the testing level needed (for example, Recertification, Stock Transfer, or Redelivered) bypassing the system’s Test Plan determination using the Qualification Schedule.
  6. Optional: Configure action triggers to set the ignore_in_reduced_testing_counters__v field conditionally (for example, if Recertification then set ignore_in_reduced_testing_counters__v to TRUE)
  7. Configure the Override to Full action on the Spec Execution object.

Permissions

This feature requires the following object and field-level permissions to be added to your standard LIMS permission sets:
